Today I was visiting a charity shop and saw this cool and funny album cover. The artist is Jimmy Smith and the album is called “Respect” from 1967.
Jimmy Smith was a jazz musician whose Hammond B-3 electric organ performances helped to popularize this instrument. He recorded for both the Blue Note and Verve labels.
Smith influenced many other jazz organists. More recently, Smith influenced bands such as the Beastie Boys, who sampled the bassline from “Root Down (and Get It)”.
Show that Hammond who´s boss!
