Pat Metheny – Orchestrion

Below is a clip where Pat Metheny talks about his latest album Orchestrion. If I have understood it correctly the entire album was performed by Pat Metheny and all these “almost-self-playing” custom-made instruments, played via solenoid switches and pneumatics. In other words, not a computer in sight.

It is quite hard to explain and understand what it really is about but this video might give you an idea.

I do not really care who, what or how this music was performed and from what I have heard so far it can be described with one simple word:
